Dialogue between BACCO & BIJF
Bangladesh Association of Call Center & Outsourcing (BACCO) organized dialogue with Bangladesh ICT Journalist Forum (BIJF) on 26 June 2013 on ‘Present State of the Call Center & BPO Industry: Opportunities & Challenges’. The initiative was supported by the ICT Business Promotion Council (IBPC).
Mr. Asif Ibrahim, Chairman of Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD) and former President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) was present as Chief Guest. Mr. Md. Hafizur Rahman, Deputy Coordinator of Business Promotion Council, Ministry of Commerce and Mr. Muhammad Khan, President of ICT Journalist Forum (BIJF) were present as special guests. The session was presided over by Mr. Ahmadul Hoq, President of Bangladesh Association of Call Center & Outsourcing (BACCO).
Mr. Ahmadul Hoq, in his introductory speech, mentioned about the present status of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry of Bangladesh and the potential of this emerging service sector. ‘The domestic market has started booming and call centers already employed 15,000 young educated people. This sector has now geared towards attracting the international clients’ he added. Mr. Hoq also depicted the vision of BACCO towards the development of this industry and sought the supports from both Government & private sectors. He then requested BIJF to join together with BACCO in developing the BPO industry of Bangladesh.
Mr. Md. Hafizur Rahman said “It is now top priority to have call center services by every service organizations for better and efficient customer service and satisfaction. Government must come forward and outsource all the departments’ services to ensure the right governance.” He also thanked BACCO for this kind of initiative and assured continuous support from IBPC towards this industry.
“BIJF will continue its support to develop the industry by placing BACCO’s voice in the media and relevant forums” Mr. Khan, President of BIJF said in his speech.
The chief guest Mr. Asif Ibrahim said Bangladesh has huge potential in service sectors and young talented people. The right measures for this sector can contribute to the GDP and export in large scale. Development of the domestic market is the key driver to be able to stand in the international market. He assured for the support in all required policy reformation for BACCO & the BPO industry on behalf of Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD).

Ruhul Amin, Mr. Towhid Hossain, Mr. Tanvir Ibrahim, Mr. Abdur Rahman Shawon; IBPC representative Mr. Mir Shariful Bashar; BIJF representatives Mr. Tariq Rahman, Mr. Hasan Jakir, Mr. Nazmul Hossain, Mr. Mohammad Kawsar Uddin, Mr. Shahidul K K Shuvra were also present.
